8/28 the server is down
Attempts to remotely log in and restore operation have failed.
We will be waiting for Jude to be able to physically power up the server.

Re: 8/28 the server is down
Followup: I am back from my vacation and on the server right now.
Our aging UPS (uninterruptible power supply) has finally given up the ghost. I arrived home to find the server cold, the fan clanging away in an unhealthy manner in the UPS, with all kinds of lights blinking on it that shouldn't have been blinking.
It has been unplugged, and I am running the server directly off wall power (through a surge protector). We may be upgrading to one of those fancy ethernet controlled surge strips soon--seems like a better option.
On the bright side, when I did resupply wall power, the server immediately booted on application of power, which means my recent bios settings mod works as intended.
The game should be back up in a few minutes.
