Participation Ribbon

Post by miger on Mon Jan 30, 2017 11:27 pm

The Participation Ribbon states that it adds hits, removes age, and increases all stats by one.

Following a complication ress on my character heal, I used a Participation Ribbon. It did raises hits, but did not change age nor increase any stats.

Why?

Any action possible on receiving the full effect of using the Participation Ribbon? Didn't want to raise the con independently if the ribbon works as stated to raise stats by 1 each.

Another comp, sigh, but I am hesitant to use another Participation Ribbon until it's effect factors are corrected to do what it states it will do. Any timeline for looking at that?

I have reviewed the data, and tested this. It appears to be working correctly. Take a before and after screen shot, and if it is not working correctly I will fix your chars and get Jude to look into it.

I used another Participation Ribbon (PR) and I agree that it is working as advertised (+1 all stats, +25 hits, and -3 years).

While I could have made a mistake, I still believe that only the hit factor worked on char "heal", and the age and stats gain did not do their things. I do not have screen shot proof on that 1st usage of the PR because I thought it would work properly. Only after using did I note only the hit factor changed. That's when I left the original note above.

I have used some other items on "heal" since her comp to improve some stats and reduce age mainly to avoid low ress % at reduced con level.

I will certainly live with what you decide, but is it possible it wasn't working properly before?

I cannot see a reason it would work sometimes and not always, unless there is something wrong with the code. I know jake found a lot of these from Loki, before I turned down Loki's drop rate for PR... he never indicated there was any issue with the item.

I don't know what else to tell you.

There is a common code base that is shared by all items that modify stats, hits, age, etc.. BUT, there are some separations in the code with regards to the 'city' and the 'dungeon'. So there exists a possibility for a class of items to work in the city and not in the dungeon, but I would regard that possibility as very slight at this point. (People would have been reporting this long ago with other items that do the same things.)

Next time I'm in the game (maybe this afternoon) I will add this item to the other tests that I am going to run. I'll report back here with any findings.

Used another Participation Ribbon and in addition to aging 3 years it lowered con from 17 to 16. Not certain what happened to other stats but it took 4 potions to max them instead of 3 after using Ribbon. Seems to minus stats, not raise stats. The comp was bad enough, hated losing another con and other stats from ribbon.

I have one more ribbon, but afraid to use it because of uncertainty.

Mike.

I think you may be confused.  When you COMP the game removes 3 of each stat except Con (where it takes 5) along with a portion of your hits and ages you 15 years.  The PR gives you 1 of each stat, some hits and deages you.  Assuming you were maxed con before the COMP-- the behavior you are reporting as an error is not an error at all.  Five point deduction to Con, 1 PR + 4 potions would return your Con to max.

In addition -- please try to provide more details when you make reports.  Where you used the item (city or dungeon) what the name of the char was etc...  vague reports don't provide us any info to go on, if there actually was a bug involved to track down.

If you are using windows, they provide you some built in ability to make screen shots.  Google it.  Take a pic before and after using the PR. Or use your phone.  IF something is wrong-- either post it here or send it to me. But baring some sort of substantiation -- I am not going to spend any more time on this.

I was going to say a something snarky about math education (or the lack of it) but decided to let it go.

Thanks. I took no screens shots in advance because I expected the PR to work normally. Yes I understand the 20 stat loss for a comp. Following the comp AND use of a Participation Ribbon, it took 4 stats each to raise the common stats back to max. For CON, it took 6. That math suggests that the PR subtracted one stat beyond that lost to the comp, when the PR should have added a stat to each.
If it had worked properly, I would have had to replace only 2 common stats and 4 for CON. That did not happen as stated above. The age also increased by 3 years using the PR. It happened to char amage while in the city.

Again.  Provide details, please.  Char name-- where the item was used, before and after values... without those things I have nothing to go on.  I want to give you the benefit of the doubt, but quite frankly I just can't see why this would happen to you and no one else.  I can bring in the char and test it, in case there is something wonky going on that is specific to that char, but only if you provide me some details.

I have tested this before, and just did so again using a test char.  Both in the city and in the dungeon--all permutations of alignments.

The item works perfectly.

It is aligned.  Clearly marked as so.  If you are G using an E version, it will reduce your stats, instead of adding to them, just like any other stat raiser will do.  If you are misaligned only 1 position, the item just goes away.  IE an E char using a N item.  Other than that, or other than some damaged data concerning your particular char-- I can see no reason why this behavior is occurring.

Age, hit points, stats all work EXACTLY as advertised.

Please provide me with some pictures of your next usage.  I will be happy to make you whole in every way if I have something to go on.

Thanks. You have now clarified why both my original (1st note in this series) and most current usage of the Participation Ribbon created negative results - I used an E aligned ribbon on a G character. I simply did not notice the item's alignment until you pointed it out in your note above.

So, stupid me. Thanks for leading me to an understanding of my errors.

If you re-read my note above, I did provide you more detail. I said the char's name was amage, the usage location was in the city, and I stated how much the stats were reduced from their max by using the ribbon. Again, what more was I lacking?

This game is my first exposure to this type of game and I have made many dumb assumptions and errors in learning the game. I do not have the experience most other players seem to have and I do not bring prior knowledge into the game. I am trying to learn and still be good at the game. Please don't beat me up for making mistakes.

i didn't realize "amage" was the name of the char. I thought it was his/her guild or a typo. Sorry. I get it now. You have to flip aligns on stats and such.
