FIXED: Character Reverted

I had a character that I deleted which was a level 28 Nomad named "Gromek". I recreated the character with the same name and leveled him up to 13 or so yesterday. I log in this morning and I'm seeing the old Gromek at level 28 and cleared out of all items, like he was when I deleted him. I'm at a loss as to what happened. I was gifted a bunch of con which I used to improve the character and I'd hate to see that go to waste.

Is it possible that I named something wrong and created a completely new character?

Our complete character database is backed up three times per day.. So all of your character's states are intact and on disk--we just need to retrieve the correct version. Let me take a look at the data--I'll respond back here when I have completed my check.

In the meantime, has anyone else lost character progress? I just want to make sure this is an isolated incident, and not a server-wide rollback (which has happened in the past).

Sorry this is still not resolved. I just went to load up your character with the operator lesson, and 'Gromek' is coming up as 'ambiguous', which probably means there are two Gromeks in our character database. What likely happened is your original deletion didn't take full effect (possibly due to a code or sequence error) and since he is earlier in the database (by creation date) he is the one that is now coming up for you. I should just be able to manually page through the database to find both characters, and delete the old one. Stay tuned!

Ok, I think everything is fixed. The level 13 (newer) version of Gromek, with maxed con, is sitting on your 'gromek' account. Please let me know if everything is as it should be.
