Reaper quest won't clear
I suppose it is possible that i have mis-ided reaper on all 4 chars a minimum on 7 times on 14/15, but i doubt it. The quest on Ruby Tuesday char of reaper won't clear. Can't be certain, but suspect.
Thanks,
Glenn

Re: Reaper quest won't clear
If you aren't getting a clearance after killing Reaper in the hallway--
try going to the stud rooms.
If you aren't getting a clearance in the stud rooms--
try looking for Reaper in the hallway instead.
There is Reaper, and there is Reaper. Not everything that looks like reaper is actually reaper.
clear as mud?

Re: Reaper quest won't clear
this is almost verbatim what he told me months ago when I started asking about the exact same issue.
I think (but have no real proof for) that there are TWO REAPERS, that appear exactly the same in the game. One reaper tends to show up outside stud rooms (and the dragon room too) and seems to do less damage and is easier to kill. I think of this as fakie reaper.
The other reaper (real) is seen in the studs, the dragon room, the ubers. He hits harder and takes more damage to kill. This reaper has drained me for many stats, stoned me, etc.
I find that when I got quested for Reaper-- it was almost always the Fakie Reaper. Look in the stud rooms on 14. 15 Hallway. He is harder to find than to kill.

Re: Reaper quest won't clear
I cleared the reaper quest. Thanks.
I was not asked of course, but i would say 2 monsters with the same name causes only one thing, frustration.
I can work at solving a puzzle or discovering how to best use and item, but duplicate names causes only frustration when you are locating what you think is the monster but cannot clear the quest. I cannot learn or do anything to solve this, just hope it is my quest monster this time (when identification says it is across all characters).

Re: Reaper quest won't clear
Okay.
It is supposed to add an element of challenge to an otherwise too easy system.
It is also a throw back to the days circa 1986 when it was widely speculated that there were two reapers. One was pretty easy and never had anything good-- and one was much harder to kill and did more damage, and had a small chance of dropping some of the best items in the game. It was never officially acknowledged that there were twin reapers-- but it was widely believed to be the case.
Obviously, this particular experiment has been a failure.
I give up. I will rename one of these mobs within the next few hours, push the update, and this problem will be resolved.

Done. Big Reaper is now more common in the non stud rooms than he was before.
Little Reaper has been renamed and he might be enhanced slightly in the upcoming days.

Re: Reaper quest won't clear
One more duplicate exists i believe, it is "Master of Thralls". One of these appear in slot 1 on level 9. Another appears under sorks on 6. When i get a master of thralls quest, first i try killing one on 9, then on 6. One or the other clears it, but this is more name duplication.
