Are we down? Gone?

javatar.org is non-responsive, the client is non responsive as well. Since Last Friday for certain. Does anyone know what's going on?

Jude says the server is up and running.

He is trying to figure out why it is unreachable.

I have been gone for the last 12 days or so.

Apologies--yes, we were down, apparently since last Thursday(?).  I was out of town on vacation and was unfortunately oblivious to the situation.  Then when I returned, I happened to check the physical server on Saturday morning and it looked fine (but was empty with no evidence of a log in that day).  

When I finally heard (today) that Javatar was down I was away from the server, so I double checked that we were up to date with payments for both our Doman and Dynamic DNS service--all good there.  At the end of the day, a good old fashioned power-cycle of our router fixed things.  I'm guessing that the software involved in the Dynamic DNS (that redirects external traffic to my IP) was somehow hung up or glitched.  (The actual server application for the game was running fine--that's why it looked ok to me on Saturday).  Usually Dungeonmaster will ping me about this stuff, but I think he was out of town as well.  

We are back up, and hopefully we won't see an outage like this for a very long time!

UPDATE:

Severe weather has knocked out internet service to the server.

Internet is restored. Game on!

Today 9/24/23 There was some sort of issue with the server not rebooting after the 2AM Eastern reboot. Thanks for the emails alerting me. I got a hold of Jude, he checked on the server and we are back online after a reboot. Game on!

Javatar client continues to be not accessible at this time.

Not sure if it helps, but from the outside, seems the same thing that happened on the Sat 2am reboot happened again on the Sunday 2am reboot. Up early both days and I was forced to be productive instead. A most unwelcome development, I must add ...

Hope you are able to hunt down the gremlins on the ops side.

I discovered the server down yesterday, and alerted Jude.

This morning I got a reply from him that the server is suffering unspecified "hardware issues."

I will post again as soon as more information is available.

We were down today, because Windows got hung up trying to update one of its own utilities! I logged onto the physical server, clicked through the dialog box, and the server application automatically started. Sheesh!

Just a heads up been down for a few hours

Thanks for the notification.  I just checked the server, and it was stuck at a (post-boot-pre-Windows-launch) screen in which Microsoft was trying to sell me backup services.  This seems to be a semi-random occurrence.  We are back online.
